Industrial relocations: moving machines and installations safely
Need to move machines and installations safely in tight spaces? Read why a compact, electric mini crane makes the difference in an industrial relocation.
In an industrial relocation, precision is everything. Machines, installations, production lines, and technical components need to be expertly dismantled, lifted, moved, and repositioned. This often happens in tight spaces with little freedom of movement, within a single building or between sites. Hoeflon does not carry out these relocations itself, but builds and supplies the compact cranes that relocation specialists and rigging companies use to do this work safely and accurately.
What makes an industrial relocation so complex?
A lot comes together in an industrial relocation. Heavy equipment, little space, and no margin for error: these factors reinforce each other, which is exactly why every step demands attention. Here are the key ones:
Weight and fragility Machines can easily weigh several thousand kilograms, yet they are also sensitive to impacts and tilting.
Limited space Narrow passageways, low ceilings, platforms, and crowded production floors leave little room to maneuver.
Production downtime Every hour a line is down costs money. Downtime has to be kept as short as possible, and mistakes are not an option.
Safety Production rarely comes to a complete stop. Lifting takes place while operators and other staff keep working nearby.
Precise positioning A machine often has to go back onto its foundation or anchor points to the millimeter.
Why a mini crane makes the difference
In cramped production facilities, narrow passageways, and on upper floors, a large mobile crane often cannot get in. And that is exactly where the strengths of a Hoeflon mini crane lie. Hoeflon mini cranes are designed for confined sites: with widths starting at around 75 cm, you can drive through doorways, hallways, and between existing machines.
Because every Hoeflon crane is fully electric, you work quietly and emission-free. That is a big advantage in enclosed facilities where people are working or where production partly continues. No exhaust fumes, far less noise. And thanks to its low dead weight and compact design, you can also use the crane on upper floors and in places that you are not allowed to, or cannot, load with heavy equipment.

Moving machines and installations with precision
Moving a heavy machine calls for control, from the first lifting point to the final millimeter. Every Hoeflon crane has a wireless remote control that shows you the weight directly and lets you make every movement in a controlled way. You stand where you have the best view of the load, instead of being stuck in a cab. On uneven or delicate floors, the adjustable outriggers provide support, even on a surface that is less than ideal.
This lets you lift in a controlled way, set a machine precisely in place, and keep the risk of damage to a minimum. That control also determines how long the line is down. A crane that is set up quickly can start lifting sooner: on the C10e, the outriggers fold out automatically and level themselves. And with pick & carry, you move a load while driving, so you do not have to set up again for every meter. Fewer steps, and therefore less downtime.

When should you use a Hoeflon mini crane for industrial relocations?
How do you get an 8-metric-ton machine out of the building when the forklift cannot reach it and a large mobile crane will not fit inside? That is exactly the kind of challenge a mini crane is made for. Think of jobs such as:
- moving production machines within a facility
- placing installations in their exact position
- relocating complete production lines
- lifting in factories with limited space
- positioning components in existing buildings
- moving machines without shutting down production
Which Hoeflon crane fits best depends on the weight of the load, the available space, and the accessibility of the site. Indoors, the main factors are the width of the passageway and the dead weight the floor has to support. Below, you can see at a glance which model suits which job.
| Model | Capacity | Width | Dead weight | Best suited to |
|---|---|---|---|---|
| C4e | 2,350 kg | 0.75 m | 2,150 kg | Upper floors and platforms where floor load capacity is limited |
| C6e | 3,000 kg | 0.77 m | 2,850 kg | Medium-weight machines in tight facilities; lifts more than its own weight |
| C10e | 4,000 kg | 0.80 m | 5,075 kg | Large components and complete technical installations |
| C30e | 9,000 kg | 1.20 m | 8,700 kg | The heaviest machines, which can also be moved while driving thanks to pick & carry |
| C30eL | 7,000 kg | 1.20 m | 8,895 kg | Lifting work where you need to reach over existing installations or parts of the building |
Working in extremely tight spots, or need a wide, stable setup for precision work? Then a spider crane is the right choice: compact, but able to spread wide for maximum stability when lifting indoors.
